I’m not a “coach.” A coach is someone who provides leadership, strategy, and tactical support to athletic teams.
I’m a mentor, a very good mentor. It’s my privilege to have mentored hundreds of students as well as mid-career adults over the years. Mentorship is a matter of trust. And I take it seriously.
Whether during college or after, I’m an advocate for my protégés and offer advice and objective thinking only when I understand a situation fully.
Every mentor/protégé relationship is different. And it must be right for both of us. Perhaps that’s the reason I decline more mentorship requests than I’m able to accept.
